Meet Our Speakers
SHANE & LEIGH BLACK
Shane and Leigh Black have been serving with Life Action since 2011. Prior to that, they ran a chiropractic practice together, and Shane also served as an itinerant preacher. They are passionate to see God interrupt the lives of His people and do a deep, transformational work in their lives. They live in Niles, Michigan, with their children: Grace (Joshua) Beam, Lindsey, Margaret, Ema, Claire, and Joshua.
JEREMIAH & STEPHANIE CANFIELD
Jeremiah and Stephanie Canfield have five children and live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They planted a church together in 2013. Jeremiah has been in ministry for over 20 years and will finish his doctorate in 2023. His passion is to help families live in a gospel-centered way by understanding the teachings of the Word of God.
STEVE & DEBBY CANFIELD
Steve and Debby Canfield met in the ’70s as single team members traveling on our road teams, and they never left. Their five sons and one daughter were raised with them on the road, and although their children are grown, Steve and Debby continue to travel. They have faithfully ministered to hundreds of team members, pastors, and churches across America with a constant heart cry to see God bring revival to this nation.
JIMMY & LORI HERDKLOTZ
Jimmy and Lori Herdklotz met on our road teams over 30 years ago. They have since served together on the road, at Life Action Camp, on the road again, and now at our headquarters in Niles, Michigan, forever impacting many hearts and lives with God’s truth and good coffee wherever they go. Jimmy and Lori have raised four boys, mentored hundreds of team members, and now have two daughters-in-law and two granddaughters to dote on.
MARK & DORIS HURLBUT
Mark and Doris Hurlbut have been married for 33 years and have six children and seven grandchildren. They served as pastor and wife for 18 years prior to joining Life Action, where Mark now serves as Director of Pastoral Relations. They have taught and led hundreds of couples in marriage classes and conferences both in the United States and in several foreign countries. Coming to faith together as adults soon after being married drives their passion to see marriages and families with Christ as their foundation.
GARRETT & AMANDA LEE
Garrett and Amanda Lee have been married since 2006. They've spent the last five years leading Life Action’s Silver Team, discipling young adults, and teaching on marriage and family. They have a passion for learning to follow Jesus in a context of relationships and hospitality.
ALEX & ASHLYN LEE
Alex and Ashlyn Lee joined Life Action to help strategically and intentionally grow our level of effectiveness and impact. Alex is directly involved with the build-out of the university programming and in the area of worship and creative arts ministry-wide. He and Ashlyn have served alongside each other in churches both “mini” and mega and have been leading worship together for well over a decade. Throughout high school, Bible college, a journey in church planting, and the ultimate ministry of parenting two littles (Lucy – 5, Xander – 1), Alex and Ashlyn’s heart has remained the same: inviting people to experience God’s life by experiencing His love!
JOHN & DONNA AVANT
John and Donna Avant have been married for 40 years and have three married children and six grandchildren. Dr. Avant serves as the President of Life Action, and he and Donna have committed their lives to communicating God’s Word so that others may know how to say yes to Him. They do most of this through speaking engagements, mentoring, writing books, blogs, and community ministry. Their heart is for individuals and the church to experience a mighty move of God in revival and spiritual awakening.
DAN & MELISSA JARVIS
Dan and Melissa Jarvis serve as revival communicators for Life Action, inspiring people to put their lives into action with Christ. Together they parent ten children at their home in Michigan, six of whom they adopted through foster care. Dan also serves as pastor of Berrien Center Bible Church and as a leadership team member of Operation Saturation, a group aiming to complete the Great Commission in South Asia by 2040. Melissa coaches parents across America who are facing challenging family situations, and loves mentoring teen and college-age girls. Whenever possible, the Jarvises join Life Action’s road teams to help lead conferences and encourage families.
MIKE & DANA LEE
Mike and Dana have been married since 1992, and they have 7 children and 6 grandchildren. Mike serves as an executive elder alongside his son Alex, who pastors a church in Missouri they planted together in 2017. Mike’s aim in life is to hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness!
DEL AND DEBRA FEHSENFELD
Del and Debra are both marriage and family therapists with years of experience guiding people toward growth and transformation. They are also certified in the Strength Deployment Inventory which is a powerful tool to increase relational intelligence, get better at conflict resolution, and deal with core issues spiritually. Del and Debra have been married for 29 years, and are the proud parents of Shepard, Kária, Chálissa, and Sol.
VIRGIL & JOY TANNER
Virgil and Joy Tanner joined Life Action in 2022 with experience in organizational leadership for a mission agency. They have ministered in Spain and Central Asia, beginning their journey in mission work after serving in a church in Nashville for nine years. They are passionate about activating households to love Jesus and engage with His mission in their community. The Tanners live with their five children in Niles, Michigan, pursuing their passion for seeing people deeply healed and fully transformed.
STEPHEN LOVE
Stephen is the husband of his beautiful wife Mandy (married in 2010), and the father of their 4 kids: Stephen Jedidiah Jr., Elias Nathanael, Jade Ruth, and Simeon Joseph. Stephen is a 3rd generation native of South Bend. Stephen received his bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute, his master’s from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a certificate in history from the University of Oxford, England. He has a heart to see disciples of Christ made in the city of South Bend. He is the self-proclaimed biggest Notre Dame and Denzel Washington fan!
Tom Harmon draws upon his 11 years as a State Patrol Officer and as a college athlete to illustrate God’s work in his life. In 1984, he sensed God’s call to preach, resigned from the state police, pastored a small church for four years, and then became a full-time itinerant preacher.
