Dear Camp Families,

We are SO sad to write this letter to you - our dear friends.  Life Action Family Camp, during weeks 1-6, is regrettably canceled.  (This impacts families who were scheduled for family camp May 25-July 4). Every member of our team here was looking forward to spending another unforgettable week with you and yours - learning, enjoying, feasting, relaxing, swimming, and all the rest of it!

But because of the coronavirus, and particularly the status of things in Michigan at this time, we are having to adjust all of our plans.

At this point, we are anticipating having the opportunity to host family camp for weeks 6-12, so we are hopeful that we can find a spot later in the summer for your family.  If we are unable to find another week or accommodation that works for your family, we are allowing deposits to rollover for 2021 Family Camp, be refunded, or be turned into a donation to Life Action Camp.

Life Action has been conducting family camps for 25 years, and we're planning to keep going for the next 25 - with hopefully this one as our only "interruption."  The Blob, the Nacho Bar, the ice cream, the worship teams, the forest trails, the staff/CREW, the cabins, the canoes, the field activities, the speed boats, the Bible studies, BaseCamp, and all that makes camp so special - it's all still here, and by God's grace we're praying it will all be fired up and back to normal soon.

In the meantime, we wait, along with much of the world, for an end to the crisis at hand.  Please pray for us, and know that we are also praying for you.

We will be in touch with you next week to discuss options for your family.

We appreciate you all so much,

Life Action Camp’s Leadership Team

P.S. Many are asking about our survivability financially during this time. Yes, this is a massive challenge for us, and we know it is for many of you as well. If you would like to contribute in any way, you can do so at our camp website. Contributions of this nature would be tax-deductible, and we will use whatever we receive during this time to keep the Camp maintained, and if possible even to be upgraded where possible.

Dear Life Action Camp family,

Our team is so excited about what is in store for this year – with a fun theme to learn about mission, hope, togetherness, and joy!!  You (and every member of your family) will love it!

However, as you are well aware, there is some cloudiness out there as well – COVID-19 and the state-by-state differences in rules for meetings have made this year’s camp season more of a challenge. Our aim is still to proceed – and to implement a variety of measures to make our camp safer, cleaner, and stronger for your family to come and enjoy.

That being said, some of this is not in our hands to decide.  We have already cancelled Weeks 1-3 of summer camp this year, along with all of our spring activities, due to the timeline laid out by the State of Michigan.  Week 4 (June 15-20) is still on, at this point the rest of the summer is on track to proceed.  But, we don’t know what’s coming, and all of us are painfully aware of how much the story can shift quickly during this time.  We will contact you immediately if any decisions are made that would impact your camp experience.  Our commitment to each registered guest is to give at least a 30 day notice of any adjustments that may need to be made to their existing registrations.

Life Action Camp has been around since the 1970s, and we’ve been conducting family camps since the 1990s.  Lord-willing, we’ll keep moving into the 2030s and beyond!  We always want to be willing to adapt our methods and innovate here at Camp, to help people keep saying yes to God no matter what changes occur in the world around us.  This year, as is also the case for churches and businesses, will undoubtedly look different than average, and prayerfully it will be a year we all grow in our relationships with God and with each other.

Please pray for us and for the whole Life Action family as our camps and retreats, along with our affiliated travelling road teams and conference ministries, have significant challenges strategically and financially as a result of the coronavirus lockdowns. And, know that we are praying for you!   We have said many times (and we believe wholeheartedly) that “this camp is YOUR camp” – and we are here for you, your family, and to help inspire your mission going forward.

We look forward to seeing you and serving you soon!

Dear Life Action Camp family,

Because of the changes that seem to be occurring daily, we at Life Action Camp are taking things one day at a time just as many of you are. We take guest and staff safety extremely seriously. While there has been no known direct contact with the Coronavirus at Life Action Camp, we are closely monitoring local, state, and national statements regarding the Coronavirus cases and following the directives from these agencies.

Based upon the current information we have we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to postpone the spring events. Therefore, we will not be hosting any retreats or events this spring. We have not cancelled any Family Camps. Our commitment to our families is to give at least a 30 day notice if we need to make any changes to current reservations.

The following verse serve as a reminder of Gods promises to provide Help, Hope, and Healing in the midst of Helplessness, Hopelessness, and Hurt. We need to always remember to rejoice in the Lord, to pray with thanksgiving in our hearts, and to run to our heavenly Father with our anxieties. What a beautiful time to focus on the character of God, the only secure place we can trust.

Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."

Philippians 4:4-7 says, "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

We are saddened by the sickness that inhabits our fallen world. Our prayers are with those that have been sick or have experienced loss. We will do our best to be responsible stewards and also trust the Lord has a good plan for all of us. We appreciate you all and the contributions you have made to help this ministry not only function but thrive over the years. It is ultimately God who sustains us and we are trusting in Him in these days to come.

Sincerely,

Life Action Camp’s Leadership Team
